Appalachian folk meets Texas hill country rock to blend his own unique form of “Western Carolinacana.” For the past decade, Joey Fortner ran around the Southeast in the role of a banjo-playing side man. Slowly, though, he eased away from the banjo and up to the mic, guitar in hand and backed by a new band of Western North Carolina music veterans and good friends called “The Universal Sound” – encompassing the ideas in Joey’s musical mind, blending Americana, Bluegrass and a touch of Rock N Roll.
